Somak Special Offers
This is a trip built on contrast, three nights of beach, a train ride into the wilderness for safari with a difference, then back to the seashores.
You'll begin with three nights at Neptune Beach Resort on Bamburi Beach, easing into the holiday with warm Indian Ocean waters and little else to think about. From there, a train carries you inland to Voi, where a transfer delivers you to a lodge built above a waterhole and salt lick in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, elephants, buffalo and giraffes passing within view throughout the day. Game drives reveal the wider sanctuary, while a visit to a nearby museum holding World War One memorabilia adds an unexpected layer of history to the stay.
The train then brings you back to the coast for four further nights, with time to return to the water, try your hand at water sports, or simply slow down again before the trip ends.

Why You’ll Love This Trip!
There's a real shape to this trip, beach, bush, then beach again, each stretch offering something the last one didn't. The train journey to Voi is a holiday in itself, arriving at a lodge where elephants and buffalo drift past the waterhole in full view, day and night, with the World War One museum adding a quieter, unexpected note to the safari days. Coming back to the coast afterwards feels earned, the same gardens and beach now given over entirely to slowing down, with evenings of entertainment and days with nothing to do but enjoy them. It's the kind of trip that gives you both the thrill of the unfamiliar and the comfort of returning to something you already love.
