Along the southern shore of Lake Kariba, the Matusadona Game Reserve must be one of the most impressive in the world. It combines the beauty of a lake setting and its rich and fertile flood plains, with a rising wall of mountains serving as a majestic backdrop. The park is well known for its elephants, often feeding half submerged in the lake. The park is also home to kudu, buffalo, zebra, waterbuck, roan, sable, impala, baboon, cheetah, leopard, lion and several rhinoceros.

The lakeshore offers fantastic views of crocodiles, hippos, buffalos, clawless otters and large herds of elephants as well as roan, eland and sable antelopes during the Dry Season, when they come to the lakeshore to drink. The park is also home to an abundance of lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and a variety of antelope, including kudus, waterbucks and impalas.
