Mr Smith’s group chose to concentrate on the ‘northern circuit’
including the Serengeti, the World Heritage site of the
Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Tarangire National Park.
Due to the vastness of the Tanzanian wilderness the group
chose to stay in the bustling town of Arusha on their first
night. The town is an ideal base from which to explore the
‘northern game-viewing circuit’. They stayed in the Serena
Mountain Village, an oasis of calm just outside the town.
The following day a light aircraft flight took the group to the
start of their Tanzania safari with the luxurious colonial-style
Kirawira Tented Camp as their base for two nights. This
fabulous camp was chosen for its location atop a high hill,
overlooking the western corridor of the Serengeti National
Park. The group had the vehicle to themselves for the
duration of the holiday, providing more independence and
flexibility in their itinerary.
The next stop for Mr Smith and the group was the World
Heritage Site of Ngorongoro Conservation Area which is a
natural wonder and a world-class attraction for any visitor to
