58 Somak Holidays 020 8423 3000 Lake Manyara & Tarangire National Parks Beneath the cliffs of the Manyara escarpment, this park offers a tapestry of woodland, grassland and swamps. In contrast are the grassy floodplains and alkaline lake where thousands of pink flamingos are found. Another reason to visit Lake Manyara National Park are the famous tree-climbing lions. In Tarangire, immense baobabs, acacias and mixed woodland punctuate the plains, whilst the Tarangire River and shrinking lagoons attract a variety of wildlife including wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx. The park also boasts a rich birdlife, including a variety of raptors. For more details see pages 66 to 69. Mbali Mbali Tarangire River Camp Located near the main entrance to the Park, the camp offers 20 luxury tents. Dinners are served by candlelight in the thatch and timber elevated dining area, with dramatic views across the plains. Tarangire Sopa Lodge Hidden among the kopjes, lies Tarangire Sopa Lodge, surrounded by ancient baobab trees. There are 75 spacious rooms with a lounge and a mini bar. Maramboi Tented Camp An ideal place from where to experience and explore the Tarangire and Manyara ecosystem. 20 strikingly spacious tents stylishly designed and perched along the Rift Valley, provides an amazing natural welcome to an area of extraordinary rich wildlife. Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge This lodge is in a spectacular setting on the edge of the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment overlooking the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara.
