Madikwe Game Reserve borders Botswana, in South Africa\u2019s North West province and is one of the largest reserves in South Africa, at over 75,000 hectares.<\/p>\n

It combines two unique ecosystems, with woodlands, savannah and rocky outcrops providing a home to an incredibly diverse range of animals and birds.<\/p>\n

As it doesn\u2019t allow day visitors, this ensures that game-viewing is uncrowded. It is also one of the few malaria-free, family-friendly reserves, making it an excellent choice for family safaris.<\/p>\n

South Luangwa National Park – Zambia<\/b><\/h3>\n

The scenery, variety of animals and choice of accommodation makes this one of the best parks in Zambia. The Luangwa River is the focal point of the park, flowing year round; it can be very low in the dry season, thus exposing vast sandbanks creating an area where crocodiles and hippos bask in the sun. Renowned for its walking safari, this is one of the best ways to experience the wilderness first hand.<\/p>\n

Mana Pools National Park –\u00a0Zimbabwe<\/h3>\n

This wild and beautiful park is the only game park in Zimbabwe to be granted a World Heritage Status. It is home to a wide variety of large mammals, lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas, over 350 bird species and aquatic wildlife.<\/p>\n

The name ‘Mana’ means ‘four’ in the local Shona language – there are four large pools inland from the Zambezi River. These pools are the remnant ox-bow lakes that the Zambezi River carved out thousands of years ago as it changed its course northwards. Hippopotamus, crocodiles and a wide variety of aquatic birds are associated with the pools.<\/p>\n

This national park has been set aside to be kept as wild as possible with only non-invasive, zero-impact tourism allowed.<\/p>\n

We recommend staying at Ruckomechi Camp which is situated on a large private concession in a remote and beautiful place in the heart of the Zambezi Valley’s Mana Pools National Park. It looks out from the banks of the mighty Zambezi River and is shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees and has a superb view of the mountains of Africa’s Great Rift Valley across the river in Zambia.<\/p>\n
