In our series \u2018Spotted on Safari this week,\u201d we are sharing some photos taken in Samburu National Park by Martin Weru, a Somak Driver Guide who has been with us since 2000. He holds\u00a0a certificate in Tour Guiding and Tourism Operations, and has recently earned the title of Silver-Level Guide. His excellent Spanish, Italian, and Ornithological expertise (Nature Kenya) have made him popular with guests and seen him appointed as Titan Tour manager<\/p>\n

Martin has a keen passion for photography and an eye for detail, which can lead to exceptional game sightings, as well as always being happy to share his wealth of knowledge, having recently completed a course on the biology of amphibians and reptiles at the National Museums of Kenya.<\/p>\n

Although Samburu National Park is one of the lesser-known parks, it has an abundance of wildlife and birds to see. It’s unusual in that the landscape is a mixture of dry desert, and lush forests and savannahs where the Ewaso Nyiro River carves its way through the region. The pockets of lush savannahs are the perfect place for game viewing, where there is no shortage of sightings of the big 3 cats – lions, cheetahs and leopards, as well as lots of birds.<\/p>\n

Sunsets and the night sky are particularly stunning here too, and we love this photo taken by Martin at night of the fiery red African sky!<\/p>\n
