Kenya’s national parks make excellent centres for bird watching, with over 1,000 species of birds offering ample opportunities for sightings. Our superb driver guides, Martin and Dan, have shared some amazing photos of birds that they have spotted whilst on safari in the various game reserves.<\/p>\n

Martin Weru \u00a0has been with us since 2000 and holds a certificate in Tour Guiding and Tourism Operations. He has recently earned the title of Silver Level Guide. His excellent Spanish, Italian, and Ornithological expertise (Nature Kenya) have made him popular with guests and seen him appointed as Titan Tour manager.<\/p>\n

Martin has a keen passion for photography and an eye for detail, which can lead to exceptional game sightings, as well as always being happy to share his wealth of knowledge, having recently completed a course on the biology of amphibians and reptiles at the National Museums of Kenya. We learn something new from him every day!<\/p>\n

Daniel Thuo, popularly known as Dan, has a fantastic eye for wildlife photography and regularly sends us incredible shots that he has taken of various animals. He graduated from Kenyatta University with a Bachelor\u2019s degree, and worked as the Principal at St Triza High School, followed by a role as the Deputy Principal at Ruiri High.<\/p>\n

He has excellent communication skills and has successfully undergone training for Tour Guiding with Somak Holidays, a course on Leadership at Mount Kenya University, and is currently completing a language course in Mandarin, which is really impressive!<\/p>\n

Starting with Martin’s photos, first up is a Malachite Kingfisher, which he spotted in Amboseli<\/strong><\/a>. Most Kingfishers are solitary, according to Martin.<\/p>\n

Whilst on a Thorn Tree Safari<\/strong><\/a>, he saw this vibrant Speke’s Weaver Bird.<\/p>\n

He saw several lovely birds in Naivasha, such as this ring-necked dove, also known as the Cape turtle dove or half-collared dove.<\/p>\n

This colourful Superb Starling was also seen in Naivasha.<\/p>\n

Quite an amazing find was this handsome male African grey woodpecker!<\/p>\n

Dan’s travels took him to Lake Bogoria, in Baringo County, where he saw these fabulous flamingos. It is one of the best places to see flamingos!<\/p>\n
