In this week’s Spotted on Safari we are delighted to share some photos taken by Jonah Mwakitawa, who has been with Somak since 1998. He studied business administration and his diploma paved his path into the tourism industry, and after attaining a Tour Guiding qualification at Kenya Utalii College, Jonah began a long and successful career with Somak, spanning over 20 years.<\/p>\n

Jonah speaks excellent Japanese as well as holding a certificate in ornithology, which is a branch of zoology that is concerned with\u00a0the study of birds. He has earned the rank of Bronze-Level Guide and is also a qualified First Aider.<\/p>\n

His recent safaris have taken him to Nanyuki, which has magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro, where he has shared breathtaking photos of Elephants against the stunning backdrop of the mountain to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where he shared an adorable photo of the last two Northern White Rhinos, Fatu and Najma having some carrots as treats with their adopted mum Tawa, which is a really special sight.<\/p>\n

Ol Pejeta has been in the spotlight recently for it is where Sudan, the last Northern White Rhino in the world sadly passed away in March 2018, leaving behind Fatu and Najma as the remaining 2 surviving Northern White Rhinos in the world.<\/p>\n

He also managed to spot a Leopard in a tree, which is a fantastic thing to see and quite rare.<\/p>\n
