You’ve booked an African Safari and might be wondering what kind of food to expect whilst you are on your trip of a lifetime. We can assure you that you will have an amazing safari gourmet experience, wherever in Africa you have chosen to go.<\/p>\n

Most lodges and camps grow their own organic fruits and vegetables and love cooking and sharing exciting local cuisine with their guests, so you can expect to be truly spoilt whilst out in the wilderness.<\/p>\n

We receive regular feedback from our guests on how amazed they were that in the middle of the African bush they were eating a vast variety of of exotic dishes, or had spectacular dining experiences.<\/p>\n

Dietary requirements are catered for by most safari lodges, so you need not worry, whether you have intolerances, allergies, are gluten free or follow a special diet! It is always advisable to let the camps or lodges know\u00a0of any dietary requirements at the time of booking,\u00a0 especially if they are located in remote areas, so they can prepare for this.<\/p>\n

From the time you start your day, you can expect biscuits, tea and coffee, to fuel you for an adrenalin rushed early morning game drive, before returning to your lodge for a scrumptious breakfast buffet, or you can even enjoy a unique champagne breakfast out in some spectacular settings, with wild animals grazing in the distance.<\/p>\n

Most lodges have got buffet restaurants on site, so you can expect a lovely variety of dishes for lunch or dinner, complete with decadent desserts and fresh fruit, and there is bound to be something to suit everyone. Cuisines tend to be a mix of local, Western and Asian.<\/p>\n

If you are lucky, you may even get to dine under the African star strewn sky out in the bush in a truly romantic setting, with a fantastic menu full of gourmet fine dining dishes to choose from, paired with some delicious wine or bubbling Champagne.<\/p>\n

Depending on which country you visit, you will be able to experience speciality local dishes and local beers or cocktails.<\/p>\n

If you happen to be on safari in Kenya, trying the local beer called Tusker, as well as the famous local cocktail called a ‘Dawa’ is a must!\u00a0It is a mixture of vodka, lime juice and honey garnished with a lime wheel and a ‘Dawa Stick’ to stir the honey.<\/p>\n
