Tanzania is one of the most popular countries in the world for safaris, and a great destination for holidays. However, many visitors head only to the Serengeti, or to Zanzibar. Here we will look at some of Tanzania\u2019s other amazing parks and sites, and show why they are worth considering when planning your trip.<\/p>\n

Selous<\/b> Selous is located in Tanzania\u2019s South, a part of the country that has remained largely uninhabited by humans. Selous is the largest game reserve in Africa, and contains the world\u2019s largest concentration of elephants. As well as elephants, many of the savannah\u2019s typical animals, such as lions, hippos, crocodiles and buffalo are found in greater numbers in Selous than elsewhere in Africa, and Selous has an impressive number of the elusive African Wild Dog.\u00a0 There is also some fantastic accommodation available in Selous. The Selous Serena Camp<\/span><\/a> <\/span>for example offers luxury tents in the heart of the reserve, with optimum game viewing.<\/p>\n Ngorongoro<\/p><\/div>\n Ngorongoro<\/b> The Ngorongoro crater is a collapsed ancient volcano bordering the Serengeti. The crater floor provides fantastic game viewing, with wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, gazelles, elephants, rhinos and Africa’s big cats all present. There is amazing accommodation on the ridge of the crater, like the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge<\/span><\/a><\/span>, offering breathtaking views down into the crater, from a stunning lodge, with unrivalled facilities. <\/b><\/p>\n Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar<\/p><\/div>\n \u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n Dar es Salaam<\/b> Although not generally considered a must-see destination, Dar Es Salaam is a captivating city, which does not deserve to be overlooked. The capital of Tanzania, Dar Es Salaam is a vibrant economic centre, illustrative of modern Africa. It is also steeped in history, with evidence of its Arab, Swahili and German influence. There are many luxury hotels in Dar Es Salaam, like the Hyatt Regency\u2019s Kilimanjaro<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and some extraordinary resorts on nearby beaches, such as the Ras Kutani<\/span><\/a>, if you\u2019d rather only a day visit to the city.<\/p>\n Greystoke Mahale<\/p><\/div>\n \u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n Mahale<\/b>\u00a0is one of the best locations in the world for viewing chimpanzees in the wild. One of the most remote and beautiful national parks in Africa, located about half way down the eastern shore of the enormous Lake Tanganyika. <\/i>It is the only place where lions and chimps coexist. Mahale is a truly awe inspiring location, and the accommodation available, such as the Greystoke Mahale, reflects this.
