On this edition of African Safari Diaries, Dionne shares her and her daughters\u2019 first-ever safari experience in Kenya. They embarked on our popular Cheetah Safari before spending three nights relaxing at Southern Palms in Diani, Mombasa.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 <\/span>What made you choose to go on an African Safari?\u00a0 Was this your first time visiting Kenya and going on Safari?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

My two daughters and I had talked about going on safari for a while, and then we decided it was time to make it happen. We booked in August and travelled in October. It was our first time visiting Kenya.<\/p>\n

We found the locals so welcoming and accommodating \u2013 they really couldn\u2019t do enough for us.<\/p>\n

2. <\/span>How did you hear about Somak Luxury Travel?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A friend had posted safari photos on Instagram, so we messaged her to ask who she had booked with, and she recommended Somak Luxury Travel.<\/p>\n

Somak were brilliant. We had so many questions while planning the trip, and they were always happy to help.<\/p>\n

The organisation of the trip was fantastic. There was a lot of travelling, with several pick-ups and drop-offs, but our lovely driver Bas just told us where to be and when \u2013 and took us everywhere we needed to go.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 <\/span>What were your highlights from your trip?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There were so many!<\/p>\n

Seeing the beautiful animals up close is something we\u2019ll never forget \u2013 lion cubs play-fighting, all the wildebeest facing the same direction in the rain, and zebras stampeding to the river before deciding whether or not to cross.<\/p>\n

It was such a fabulous adventure, and sharing it with my two daughters made it all the more special. We created memories that will stay with us forever. I think it will be hard to top this trip.<\/p>\n

4. <\/span>Any advice or tips for anyone thinking of going on a Safari?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Definitely do it!\u00a0 Be prepared for early mornings, long days and lots of travelling.\u00a0 It will all be worth it.<\/span><\/p>\n
