Machaba Camp Machaba Camp

Machaba is the local Setswana name for the sycamore fig tree, 'the tree of life'. The tree is plentiful in the Okavango Delta as well as most African riverine forests.

The fruit, of the machaba, which is abundant throughout the year, feeds a variety of animals including elephants, bush bucks and baboons, plus many more.

Built in the classic 1950's style, all the luxury safari tents are situated on the ground, accessed by pathways which meander between the large riverine trees. From the guest tent verandahs, it is a delight to watch the animals who come to drink at the river in front of the camp.

The main area offers stunning views of the flood plains - the perfect place to sip sundowner and watch the wildlife wander by.

This independently owned and run camp offers a wonderful classic safari experience for families and first time safari goers as well as for the seasoned safari goer.
