  • We recently celebrated a very special milestone, our 50th anniversary, marking the occasion with an exclusive private screening of the much anticipated Disney movie of the year, The Lion King, at the Everyman Cinema, Baker Street. The cinema is truly fabulous, with plush comfortable seats, and it added to the excitement!

On the evening we were joined by our fantastic staff, members of the media with their families, trade partners, as well as children and staff from Dreams Come True, a national charity that Somak is proud to support.

Dreams Come True are an amazing charity that helps children and young people with serious and life-limiting conditions to fulfil a dream, and Somak is very proud to partner with them and support them in several ways. In the past we have helped fulfil a dream for a young adult whose dream was to go on a safari and you can read about it here.

Whilst we waited we nibbled on delicious pizzas and enjoyed some drinks before going into the cinema room for the the special screening of the Disney blockbuster.

The evening was enjoyed by all, and it’s safe to say that there may have been a few sing alongs during the movie when all the popular songs were being played, as well as some tears shed at the classic sad scenes. The movie was brilliant and it was amazing to see the landscapes in Kenya and animals come to life with the live-action and CGI make-over.

It also left some of our guests yearning to go on a safari and see the incredible animals in real life!
