New wedding packages in East Africa New range from £0 to £1,439

A hippo pool breakfast, an exotic Masai Mara bush dinner, transport by camel and free publicity in the local paper are the headline options in Somak's range of wedding packages in Africa released today for 2010.

A new 18-page ebrochure, 'Weddings & Honeymoons in Paradise', features 24 different venues for East African weddings from the bush close to wildlife, to a Masai hut or a tropical beach. All can be followed by a luxurious honeymoon.

Cash-strapped couples hoping to get married and enjoy a honeymoon in Africa will appreciate the prices on offer. A wedding package at the 4* Turtle Bay Beach Club in Watamu, Kenya, East Africa, costs precisely nothing, when the couple stay 7 nights or more at the hotel. A 7-night beach holiday package costs from just £1255 per person; valid in April including return scheduled flights, transfers, the wedding package and 7 nights' all-inclusive in a Super Club room. The wedding package includes licence fees and the services of the registrar, and a decorated area for the ceremony when getting married. This wedding costs £240 if couples stay less than 7 nights.

More unusual alternatives include the option to get married overlooking a hippo pool. A wedding package at the 5* Mara Intrepids, Kenya costs £1,299 and includes a choice of decorated venue such as the lounge gardens, a typical Masai hut-type home or at the hippo pool. Many couples have photographs of their wedding taking place with wildlife as witnesses.

Zanzibar also features with a choice of six hotels and resorts offering weddings on the island. The 5* Gemma Dell'est, north west Zanzibar, offers a luxury wedding package from £1,439 which includes a bridal bouquet, a decorated venue, legal fees, Masai dancers, a honeymoon surprise gift in the room, a romantic beach dinner on the evening of the ceremony and a 4-course seafood dinner at the a la carte restaurant, Sea Breeze, Zanzibar, East Africa the day after the ceremony.
