Kandy’s main attraction is the golden roofed Temple of the Sacred Tooth relic of the Buddha. Brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th c. A.D., the sacred relic has ever since been the symbol of sovereignty for its rulers and is enshrined in great splendour. Other attractions include Kandyan dancing and the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens. Kandy is also famed for its antiques.
