Zambian Family Adventure

 

The Zambezi Sun, situated on the banks of the Zambezi is only a short walk from the Falls.

It is a popular choice with families of all ages and offers the Kamp Kwena Kiddies Centre, the perfect spot where kids can be kids; giving parents plenty of free time to discover all the attractions in the area. Available to children from 2 to 12 years old, kids enjoy a variety of activities such as half-day excursions to places of interest, fun and games and nature walks.

Kasaka River Lodge is a luxury tented lodge on the banks of the Zambezi in the Lower Zambezi Valley, offering guests a unique holiday experience as well as a safari. Choose the 'Wild Side', where tents are connected by overhead walkways which allow elephants and other wildlife to walk directly underneath to the river bank or on the 'Tame Side' of camp where the tents are set amongst manicured lawns (thanks to a few resident hippos) and are closer to the swimming pool.

Kasaka River Lodge also offers a specially designed bush kids' programme for children, they are given an activity pack which will keep them entertained for hours while mum and dad are relaxing by the pool, or they could take a 'Pooh Walk' with one of the professional guides.

DAY 1 LONDON-LIVINGSTONE
Fly from Heathrow overnight via Johannesburg to Livingstone.

DAY 2 LIVINGSTONE
Transfer to the hotel, situated within walking distance of the Falls. In the late afternoon take an included sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Overnight: Zambezi Sun.

DAY 3 LIVINGSTONE
Meet your guide and walk the short distance to the Victoria Falls for a guided tour. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight: Zambezi Sun. (b)

DAY 4 LIVINGSTONE
A day at leisure to enjoy many of the optional activities on offer from adrenaline-filled to sedate. Overnight: Zambezi Sun. (b)

DAY 5 LIVINGSTONE-LOWER ZAMBEZI
Fly via Lusaka to the Lower Zambezi's Royal Airstrip where you will be met and transferred to your Lodge. Your lodge is fully inclusive of all meals, drinks (not bottled wine), land and river game viewing, fishing, canoeing and laundry. Overnight: Kasaka River Lodge. (b,l,d)

DAY 6 LOWER ZAMBEZI
Choose between a game walk under the guidance of your professional guide, a game drive in an open safari vehicle or game viewing on the water along the banks of the Zambezi. Overnight: Kasaka River Lodge. (b,l,d)

DAY 7 LOWER ZAMBEZI
With activities that include, day and night game drives, river safaris, fishing and canoeing, there is always something to keep you and your children entertained. Overnight: Kasaka River Lodge. (b,l,d)

DAY 8 LOWER ZAMBEZI
Your last chance to spot the 'big five' and perhaps to see some of the rare wild dogs that inhabit this wilderness area. Overnight: Kasaka River Lodge. (b,l,d)

DAY 9 LOWER ZAMBEZI-LUSAKA
Transfer to Jeki airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Lusaka where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Southern Sun Ridgeway Hotel. (b)

DAY 10 LUSAKA-HEATHROW
Transfer from the hotel to Lusaka airport for your flight to Heathrow. (b)

This suggested itinerary departs from the UK on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.

All rooms can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child aged 11 or under. Age restrictions may apply on certain activities.

The Lower Zambezi Camps and Lodges close during the rainy season from mid November to the end of March each year.

Baggage is restricted on internal flights to 15kg per person in soft sided bags.
