Cape Explorer-self Drive

 

This suggested self-drive itinerary takes in the excitement of Cape Town and then a leisurely drive along the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth.

DAY 1 HEATHROW-CAPE TOWN
Overnight flight from Heathrow to Cape Town.

DAY 2 CAPE TOWN
On arrival you will be met and assisted with collecting your hire car. Continue on to your hotel. Overnight: Southern Sun Waterfront.

DAY 3 CAPE TOWN
Spend the morning on a Cape Town city tour. You could spend your free afternoon visiting Table Mountain or the V&A Waterfront. Overnight: Southern Sun Waterfront. (b)

DAY 4 WINELANDS
After breakfast either explore more of Cape Town or head towards the famous Winelands (43 km), with views of the vineyards and mountains. Spend the time exploring the charming town of Stellenbosch. Overnight: Spier Hotel. (b)

DAY 5 OUDTSHOORN
Today you travel along Route 62, past Montagu to Oudtshoorn (380 km). Enjoy a tour of the nearby Cango Caves. Overnight: La Plume Guest House. (b)

DAY 6 GEORGE
Take a leisurely drive towards the coastal town of George (54 km). You will have time to relax and enjoy the views of the Outeniqua Mountains. Overnight: Fancourt. (b)

DAY 7 KNYSNA
Continue your journey along the Garden Route to Knysna (62 km). Spend the remainder of the day exploring the shops and restaurants on the waterfront, before a sunset cruise on Knysna Lagoon. Overnight: Belvidere Manor. (b)

DAY 8 PORT ELIZABETH
Drive to Port Elizabeth where you can enjoy the beaches and various activities offered (260 km). Overnight: Protea Hotel Marine. (b)

DAY 9 HEATHROW
Enjoy a relaxing day in Port Elizabeth before returning to the airport to drop off the car. Check in for your overnight flight to Heathrow via Johannesburg. (b)
