Classical Kaleidoscope

 

Namibia has a tremendous appeal for all those who travel there, from the monumental dunes reaching into the blue sky at Sossusvlei to the great shimmering plains of the Etosha Pan, surrounded by thousands of African mammals and Makalani palms standing against the horizon like windmills.

You will never forget the ostrich egg-shell beads on the necklaces of the legendary Bushman, the predators of the Bwabwatwa National Park (previously known as the Caprivi Game Park) and the traditions of Caprivi villages. Namibia speaks its own silent poetry, appealing to the mind, and to the heart.

Fly overnight from Heathrow via Johannesburg to Windhoek.

DAY 2 TUESDAY WINDHOEK

DAY 3 WEDNESDAY SOSSUSVLEI
Travel into the Namib Desert with its monumental dunes and ever-changing colours. Overnight: Namib Naukluft Lodge, or similar. (b,d)

DAY 4 THURSDAY SOSSUSVLEI
Travel into the heart of the highest sand dunes on earth, and visit Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. Return to your lodge via the awe-inspiring Sesriem Canyon. Overnight: Namib Naukluft Lodge, or similar. (b,d)

DAY 5 FRIDAY SWAKOPMUND
Transfer to Swakopmund, where the remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight: Europa Hof Hotel, or similar. (b)

DAY 6 SATURDAY DAMARALAND
Visit Cape Cross where thousands of fur seals frolic in the Atlantic! Then onto Damaraland (440 km). Overnight: Twyfelfontein Lodge, or similar. (b)

DAY 7 SUNDAY ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Visit the world heritage site of Twyfelfontein, which boasts over 2500 different rock engravings and also the Burnt Mountain, the Petrified Forest and the Organ Pipes (310 km). Overnight: Etosha Safari Camp, or similar. (b)

DAY 8 MONDAY ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
A full day viewing the wildlife found in the Etosha National Park. Overnight: Etosha Safari Camp, or similar. (b)

DAY 9 TUESDAY ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
In the morning travel through the park from west to east visiting a wide selection of waterholes along the way (470 km). Overnight: Ghaub Guest Farm, or similar. (b)

DAY 10 WEDNESDAY MAHANGU GAME PARK
Head north towards the lush Caprivi region (500 km) with a stop at Hoba Meteorite. Overnight: Mahangu Safari Lodge, or similar. (b,d)

DAY 11 THURSDAY BWABWATWA NATIONAL PARK
Enjoy a morning game drive into the Mahangu National Park before arriving at your lodge along the Kwando River (220 km). Overnight: Namushasha Lodge, or similar. (b)

DAY 12 FRIDAY BWABWATWA NATIONAL PARK
Visit a traditional Caprivi village to learn about the tradition and culture of these subsistence farmers. Overnight: Namushasha Lodge, or similar. (b)

DAY 13 SATURDAY KASANE
Travel into Botswana and transfer to Kasane close to the Chobe National Park (240 km) where you can extend your stay, transfer to Livingstone and Victoria Falls for an extended stay or return to Johannesburg for your flight home. (b)
