Karibu Kenya Safari

 

Four unique camps offering excellent opportunities to see wildlife, sometimes even without leaving camp. All but one night are spent under canvas, but these are no ordinary tents. Each is luxuriously decorated and has modern facilities.

Highlights are hard to pick, there are so many, but at Aberdares you are on the slopes of the magnificent Mount Kenya; at Samburu enjoy Ashnil's prime location and hospitality; at Sweetwaters see chimpanzees and try camel-trekking in addition to gazing at the waterhole, and at Kicheche, enjoy the location a prime wildlife area of the northern Mara plains.

The 9-day itinerary includes light aircraft transfers (days 6 and 9) to make short work of the distances between camps. An excellent choice for discerning safari lovers.

DAY 1 HEATHROW-NAIROBI
Fly from Heathrow overnight to Nairobi.

DAY 2 ABERDARES
Transfer to the Somak Safari Lounge, where you can freshen up before departing for the slopes of Mount Kenya and to Mountain Lodge (180 kms). After lunch, afternoon is spent viewing game from the lodge. Overnight: Serena Mountain Lodge. (l,d)

DAY 3 SAMBURU
After breakfast depart for the Samburu National Reserve (240 kms). After lunch, proceed on a late afternoon game drive. Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 4 SAMBURU
Early morning and late afternoon game drives enable you to see wildlife unique to this arid yet beautiful part of Kenya. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight at the Ashnil Samburu Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 5 OL PEJETA
After breakfast, depart for the Ol Pejeta Conservancy (190 kms) and to the Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive in the Conservancy and a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Overnight: Sweetwaters Tented Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 6 MASAI MARA PRIVATE CONSERVANCY
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip at Nanyuki for your light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara (approximately 1.5 hours). An afternoon game drive by 4 wheel drive vehicle (a window seat cannot be guaranteed, and this part of the safari cannot be in an exclusive vehicle). Overnight: Kicheche Mara Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 7 MASAI MARA PRIVATE CONSERVANCY
An early morning balloon flight over the Mara, followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra), or a morning game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Afternoon game drive. Overnight: Kicheche Mara Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 8 MASAI MARA PRIVATE CONSERVANCY

DAY 9 EXTENSION OR HEATHROW
Light aircraft flight to Nairobi (approximately 1 hour), then proceed with your chosen extension or return to Heathrow. (b)

Option to fly from the Mara to Mombasa on day 9 (includes lunch in the Mara) - prices on request.

Light aircraft baggage allowance 15 kg.

Children aged 7 and below are not permitted on this safari.
