Otjiwarongo

The Herero people were the original settlers of this area, and they called the place Otjiwarongo, meaning 'place where fat cattle graze'.

Otjiwarongo is the Cheetah capital of the world thanks to the efforts of the Cheetah Conservation Fund which is engaged in efforts to save the cheetah.

The town has some interesting old German buildings and has a crocodile ranch that is popular with tourists.
